Sterling, Mass. – Rick Karbowski, PGA (Auburn Driving Range) and Rob Neaton, PGA (North Andover CC) carded the low rounds of the day, even par-70, to share first place at the 2024 NEPGA Pro-Senior Invitational on Monday. A total of 88 players and 22 teams came out to compete in the event held on a rainy late July day at Sterling National CC.
Karbowski, who was the 2023 NEPGA Pro-Senior Champion, carded two birdies on the front nine at Sterling National. He birdied the par-3 5th hole and the par-5 8th hole to make the turn at 2-under. He came up 18 still at 2-under, but a double bogey on the last hole, a par-5, put him at even overall in a share for first place.
After a trio of bogeys early on, Neaton carded his first birdie of the day on the par-4 9th hole to make the turn at 2-over. He closed out the round with birdies on the par-4 and par-5 17th and 18th holes respectively, to clinch a share of first place.
Ronald Margeson, Jr. (Ould Newbury GC) rounded out the top three, shooting 1-over, 72, for solo third place on the day.
In the Gross Team format, the Auburn Driving Range team led by Karbowski posted a best-ball score of 7-under, 64 to take home the team victory. The group carded seven total birdies, three on the front nine and four through the back.
The New England PGA would like to thank Sterling National CC Head Golf Professional, Matthew Bradbury and the entire Sterling National staff for hosting a fantastic Pro-Senior Invitational.
