NANTUCKET, Mass.— The New England PGA traveled across the Nantucket Sound on Thursday for a new event on the schedule in 2024, The Island Pro-Am at Miacomet Golf Club. Twenty-six teams of NEPGA Professionals made the trip to Miacomet and were rewarded with a perfect weather day on Nantucket.

Bob Miller, PGA and his team from Cranberry Valley GC left the Island victorious in the 2 BB of 4 team competition. Miller, Ed Alves, Jon Goldstein, and Bill Newman fired a round of 16-under par 128 to win by five shots. They were able to keep a clean card for the day and recorded eight birdies and four eagles during their round. Their back nine was particularly impressive, shooting a 9-under 63 to put the finishing touches on their victory.

Finishing in second place was the team led by PGA Life Member Brendan Reilly, PGA at 11-under 133. Hynannisport Club led by Dave Einstein PGA finished in solo third place at 10-under 134.

Miller also enjoyed success in the Individual Professional portion of the day, tying with Milton Hoosic’s Rick Lebeau at 1-under par 71. Leabeau shot an opening nine 35 after recording an eagle on the par-5 5th hole. Lebeau battled hard on the back nine to stay in red figures for the day, trading three birdies with three bogeys on his back nine to shoot even par.

Miller’s round was a tale of two nines. Standing on the 5th tee he sat at five-over par for the day, but began to right the ship by making a birdie on the 5th hole, followed by four pars to make the turn in 40 shots. On the back nine he caught fire making birdies on 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, and 18 to shoot an impressive 5-under 31 on the back nine.

In third place was PGA Life Member Brendan Reilly at 1-over 73, followed by Hyannisport Club’s Dave Einstein at 2-over 74. Kevin Maynard (Sankaty Head) and Todd Anzlovar (The Foundation) finished in a tie for 5th.
