BROCKTON, Mass. – ¬¬Scott MacArthur, PGA and his team from Wollaston GC posted a score of 13-under par 127 to win the New England PGA Thorny Lea Pro-Am on Monday. The foursome recorded 10 birdies and two eagles in the two best-ball of four (one gross, one net) competition, closing with a bogey-free 62 (8-under) on the back-9.
The foursome from Falmouth CC, led by Shawn Warren, PGA, finished tied for second at 11-under par with 11 birdies and seven pars as a team. Liam Friedman, PGA, and his squad from Nashawtuc CC joined Falmouth in that tie for second at 11-under.
Frank Dully, PGA (Kernwood CC) won the individual professional competition, shooting 2-under par 68. Dully rolled in five birdies, including back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes which got him to 3-under for the round before closing with two bogeys and a birdie over the final five holes.
Warren, Dan Gillis, PGA (Nabnasset Lake CC) and Friedman were one stroke behind Dully at 1-under par 69. Warren overcame two bogeys in the first seven holes by making three birdies and no bogeys over the final 11. Gillis was on fire in the middle of his round, going 4-under par in a four-hole stretch starting with the day’s only eagle, a 3 on the par-5 8th. Friedman got off to a slow start, sitting a 2-over par through three holes before playing the final 15 holes 3-under to post 69.
