LITTLE COMPTON, RI – On Wednesday, May 22nd, The Rhode Island Chapter kicked off their 2024 season with 18 holes of Four Ball stroke play at Sakonnet Golf Club. 24 teams of professionals teed it up on the scenic Ocean State track, and all were treated to a beautiful spring day.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Bill Maguire and Nick Jagoe didn’t have to travel far to capture a victory, as they made their 30-minute drive from Wanumetonomy G&CC count by firing an impressive 6-under 64 to win by three strokes. The duo’s only blemish on the scorecard came with a bogey on the Par 3 16th but they didn’t let it linger, making their 7th birdie of the day on the 17th hole to stay on course for the victory.

John Paesani and Ben Egan (The Bay Club at Mattapoisett) looked to make a late charge towards the top of the leaderboard, making an eagle 2 on the 17th hole to finish their round in style. Their steady play prior to the eagle included a birdie and 16 pars, leading to a 3-under 67 and a solo second place finish.

Robert Tramonti (Triggs Memorial GC) and Kirk Hanefeld (Salem CC) made the difficult holes look easy, recording the lone birdies of the field on holes 4, 9, and 18 to help card a 2-under total and secure the final spot on the podium.

On behalf of the entire Rhode Island Chapter, thank you to Sakonnet Golf Club, Head Professional Matt Alwin, and his staff for being fantastic hosts.
