NORTON, Mass. – The Massachusetts Chapter opened it’s 2022 tournament season today with a 6,6,6 Tournament at TPC Boston on a cool Monday afternoon. A total of 80 players came out to Norton, Mass. to tee off in the first tournament of the season. The tournament featured a unique format; 6 holes of fourball stroke play, 6 holes of alternate shot, and 6 holes of scramble. The team of Jeff Martin, PGA (Wollaston GC) and Todd Scarafoni, PGA (Bass Rocks GC) took home the overall title for the second year in a row, firing an impressive 6-under 66. The duo posted eight birdies, picking up five on the back nine. They birdied two out of five par 4’s and made par on the other three. They also made birdie on three out of four par 5 holes.
Martin and Scarafoni finished on top in the alternate shot portion of the tournament as well, finishing at 1-under.
Jacob Leech, PGA (Walpole CC) and Brendon Ray, PGA (Point Judith Country Club) took home second place overall, shooting a 4-under 68. They posted six total birdies and one eagle. The pair took home the top spot in scramble play over the final six holes, shooting 5-under.
Thomas Tobey, PGA (Sandwich Hollows Golf Club) and Eric Barlow, PGA (Winchester Country Club), took home third place overall, finishing with a 3-under 69 over the three contests. The duo finished with five birdies, four from Barlow, and one eagle from Barlow as well.
The best ball competition was won by Nick Desjardins, PGA (Weston GC) and Steven Daly (Dedham Country & Polo Club), PGA, shooting 3-under on holes one through six.
