BRUNSWICK, ME- Brunswick Golf Club played host to the 2022 Maine Chapter Pro-Am Championship on Monday. 16 Professionals brought teams comprised of their clubs’ top amateurs to compete for the Chapter’s first major of the season.

The teams from Portland Country Club (Patrick Kowker) and Martindale Country Club (Chris Carrier) each fired extremely low scores of 11-under 133 to tie for the victory in the 2 BB of 4 Gross contest.

Kowker was joined by his playing partners from Portland Country Club, Joe Walp, Curt Jordan, and Andrew Slattery. The foursome got to red numbers early in the round after making eagle on the par-5 3rd hole. They ended their front nine with birdies on holes 7 and 8 before making an eagle on the 9th hole to go out in 6-under 68. Portland CC continued their strong play on the back nine. Making birdies on 12, 14, and 15 and finally capping their round with an eagle on 16 to get to 5-under on the back and 11-under overall.

The Martindale team was comprised of PGA Professional Chris Carrier along with Martindale members, Jace Pearson, Brian Bilodeau, and Kelly Cates. The team made an impressive eight birdies, one eagle, and an albatross during their round. The albatross came on the par-5 16th hole when Chris Carrier made an eagle and all three amateurs made birdie.

Congratulations to both teams on fantastic rounds, and the Chapter looks forward to celebrating them as the 2022 Co-Champions!

Eric Higgins of Webhannet Golf Club won the individual professional competition carding a round of 1-under 71. Higgins jumpstarted his round with an eagle on the par-5 third hole.  He recorded two birdies and three bogeys the rest of the way to record his first victory of the season.

Sean Barrett (Falmouth CC) and Cameron Taylor (Portland CC) finished in a tie for second place at 3-over 75, followed by Dan Venezio (Portland CC)  and Benjamin Morey (Spring Meadows GC) who finished with rounds of 77.
