Rutland, VT – The Farrell Distributing Pro-Am kicked off on Monday with a strong field of 21 teams. This week there was a different format, one best ball of four gross and one best ball of four net which led to two different division winners this week in the team event. In the gross division, Reece Delaire and his team Williston Golf club had an excellent round of 7-under par 63 with 9 birdies in their group with 5 of them on the back nine. Aiden Melville and his team from CC of Vermont was right behind them with a round of 6-under par 64 with 5 birdies on the back nine as well. In a three way tie for third in the gross division, Newport Country Club, Dorset Field Club, and the Vermont Golf Association (Earls) all posted rounds of 5-under par 65.
In the net division, Jim Cruickshank and his team from Fox Run Golf Club had a hot start to their round with posting 10-under 25 on the front nine and holding on to win with a total round of 55 15-under par. John Cleanthes and his team from Haystack Golf Club were not far behind with a round of 13-under par 57. Also in the net division there was a three way tie for third with Ekwanok Country Club, CC of Vermont, and Sugarbush Golf Club all posting rounds of 12-under par 58.
The individual professional side of things Aiden Melville (CC of Vermont) had a very strong performance to win by three shots. Melville’s four birdies and three bogies held off a five way tie for second with David Bennett (CC of Vermont), Alex Watson (Ekwanok Country Club), Roger King (Sugarbush Golf Club), David Jankowski (Golf Garage VT), and Kellen Preey (Links at Lang Farm) with rounds of 2-over par 72. Rounding out the top 9 are Matt Arvanitis (Southern New Hampshire University) 74, Reece Delaire (Williston Golf Club) 75, Tom Mackey (Ekwanok Country Club), Mike Slayton (Cedar Knoll Country Club), and Patrick Berry (Dorset Field Club) with rounds of 76.
