A picture perfect day greeted the 28 teams (112 players) at the NHC/NEPGA Pro am held at the stunning Mt. Washington Omni Hotel Golf Course. Summer is holding on so the temps rose into the 80’s to keep the golfers loose for their round. Last seasons visit was great for the players and everyone insisted on coming back to this facility. With todays conditions and weather, I see no reason not to make this a stop every year.
Todays team format was 1 BB Gross or 1 BB Net, two different divisions. The Gross contest saw the team from About Golf with Professional Matt Delois come in with a 13 under 59 to take the top spot. His team was Jim Cilley, Brett Wilson, and Dan Doyle. Their round was highlighted with a hole in one on the 14th hole by Brett Wilson. He also holed out on the 1st hole for eagle. It was Wilson’s 6th hole in one in his golfing career. Second place in the gross division went to the team from Rochester led by Mitch Jefferson with his team of Sean Johnson, Ryan Martel, and Josh Parker. They came in at 9 under par.
The Net Division saw the team from SNHU with Professional Matt Arvanitis and the team of Dave Perry, Bob Mielcarz, and Jim Cardoso. They shot a 14 under 58 to take the top spot. This is something different for a team that Arvanitis leads, as they are always close to the gross leaderboard. The team from Lynx Fitness Center came in at 12 under par 60 to take 2nd place. The team was made up of Pro Ryan Peffer and teammates Les Apple, Steve Puzas, and Rick Force.
The pro contest saw a multiple of players have good rounds today. Chris Houston of Laconia shot a 1 under 71 to take top honors for the pros. He was 2 over on the front but finished strong with a 3 under 33 on the back to post his 71. Sam Cody of Stonebridge, Ryan Peffer of Lynx Fitness Club, and Dan Wilkins of Laconia all came in with come even par 72’s to tie for 2nd place. Peffer was 4 under at one point but faltered on the last 3 holes to come in even. Cody, on the other had shot 40 on the front, but worked his way back to even with a 4 under back nine. Wilkins had the steadiest round carding 3 birdies and 3 bogies on the way to his even par round. Matt Arvanitis of SNHU came in with a 73 to end up in 5th place. Dan Kish of Atkinson, and Mitch Jefferson of Rochester shot 2 over 74’s to tie 6th place. Walter Reeves of Canterbury Woods and Cory Mansfield of Derryfield both shot 75 to end up in a tie for 8th. Matt Delois of About Golf shot 76 to end up in 10th place alone.
We want to thank Mt. Washington Golf Course and Omni Resorts for a great day at their facility. Course was in great shape. I got allot of comments on the pin on the 18th hole, we will be sure it isn’t in that spot next year.
Next week the circuit has the week off as the NEPGA Championship is being held. On Monday September 12th the pro am fall season gets into swing at Montcalm Country Club.
