BOYLSTON, Mass. – The New England PGA is happy to announce that Tim Murphy has joined the Section staff in a full time capacity as Tournament Manager. Murphy is a familiar face to the New England Section, having served as Tournament Coordinator for the 2024 season while working primarily in Section and Chapter operations. In his new and expanded role, Murphy will oversee the coordination and administration of the New England Series, Assistants’ Association, and Senior Association events and programming while continuing to assist with Section and Chapter functions.
“We are excited to welcome Tim into his new full-time role as Tournament Manager. His experience and dedication to the New England PGA, paired with his passion for the game, make him the perfect fit for this expanded position. Tim has already demonstrated his commitment to enhancing our events and programs, and we are confident that his leadership will continue to elevate the experience for all our members,” said Michael Higgins, Executive Director, New England PGA.
Murphy is a Massachusetts native and avid golfer who began playing competitively on the NEPGA Junior Tour while attending Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury. He went on to play for the Assumption University golf team, and graduated in May of 2023 with a major in marketing and minor in sports management.
During his time at Assumption, Murphy worked in the bag room and professional shop at Worcester Country Club and was an intern at Mass Golf in the championships department, experiences that helped to shape his passion for golf administration. Prior to his start at the NEPGA in 2024, Murphy also spent a season at The Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) where he helped to oversee championships and golf operations.
“I am thrilled to join the New England PGA team in this new position,” said Murphy. “I am looking forward to taking on new responsibilities while continuing to elevate our offerings for New England PGA and New England Series members.”
