NANTUCKET, Mass. – The New England PGA hosted the NEPGA Island Pro-Am at Miacomet Golf Course on Wednesday, May 27, with 26 teams competing in the popular island event. Players were greeted by typical Nantucket spring weather, with cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-60s creating ideal scoring conditions throughout the day. The event brought together PGA Professionals and amateur partners for a competitive round of golf, resulting in numerous under-par scores and showcasing the strong partnerships between professionals and their teammates on the island.
The team from Woodland Golf Club claimed the championship in impressive fashion. Tom Doherty, PGA, the Professional Division winner, teamed with amateurs Steve Sullivan, Tom O’Neill, and Phil Gorgone to post an outstanding 18-under-par 126. Doherty added 2 birdies during his round, helping anchor the team’s winning performance as they secured a seven-shot victory over the field and earned both the team title and individual Professional Division honors for the event.
Doherty shot 1-under, 71 with two birdies on his scorecard. Gregg Richbourg, PGA (Cape Cod National) and Todd Anzlovar, PGA (The Foundation) finished in second place on the Individual Professional side, shooting even-par 72s on the day.
Kevin Wilczewski, PGA, and his Lexington Golf Club team of Steve Geldart, John Taves, and Charlie Cooper finished runner up in the team division at 11 under par, 133.
Two teams shared fourth place at 9 under par 135. Dave Einstein, PGA, and his Hyannisport Club team of Chad Crocker, Brendan Shields, and Nick Bowes tied with Woodland Golf Club’s Adam Kaplan, PGA, Michael Courtney, Kevin Armstrong, and Jon Feinberg.
The New England PGA extends its gratitude to Miacomet Golf Course and all participants for helping make the 2026 NEPGA Island Pro-Am a success. The Section would also like to thank supporting sponsor Cape Air for its continued support of New England PGA events and helping provide a memorable experience for players competing on Nantucket. Their partnership plays an important role in the success of events such as the Island Pro-Am and in supporting the game of golf throughout New England.
