The Bay Club, Kittansett Club, Portland Country Club, The Woodlands Club and The Quechee Club Announced as Hosts of 2025-2027 NEPGA Section Championships
BOYLSTON, Mass. – The New England PGA Section is excited to announce the host and co-host facilities for the 2025, 2026, and 2027 Section Championships. The NEPGA Section Championship is well known as the largest Section Championship in the country, and the Section is looking forward to continuing the growth of participation in the coming years.
In 2025, the 105th NEPGA Section Championship will be hosted by The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Mass. with co-host, The Kittansett Club down the road in Marion, Mass. The event will take place from September 2-4, 2025.
The 106th Section Championship will take place at Portland Country Club and The Woodlands Club in Falmouth, Maine from August 31-September 2, 2026.
The Quechee Club, located in Quechee Vermont, is on board as the host facility for the 2027 Championship and will host all three rounds across their two Championship courses. The event will take place from September 7-9, 2027.
“The NEPGA is committed to securing some of the finest facilities to host our events, and the next three years we have done just that,” said NEPGA Executive Director, Michael Higgins. “The tournament committee’s goal is to schedule out our major championships three to five years in advance to allow for our PGA Professionals to plan and get as excited as our staff,” he continued. “We are very fortunate to be able to move our Championship around the Section throughout our five amazing states, and I can not thank our host PGA Professionals enough for helping us put this terrific lineup together”.
The Bay Club (2025)
The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Mass. is a private golf community located within an Audubon Sanctuary. The parkland course was designed by PGA Tour Professional, Brad Faxon in conjunction with golf course architect, Brad Booth. The perfectly manicured bent grass fairways and greens, and British-style fescue are highlights of the classic New England parkland course. The course offers six layouts ranging from 5,080 to 7,008 yards.
“I am truly honored and thrilled to announce that the Bay Club, in collaboration with Kittansett, will be hosting the 105th NEPGA Championship in 2025. It is a privilege to be part of such a prestigious event and to welcome my fellow Professionals for this esteemed tournament,” said Head Golf Professional of the Bay Club, Ben Egan, PGA. “We are excited to offer our course for what promises to be an exceptional three days of Championship golf. Our team is dedicated to providing a challenging and memorable experience for all participants, and we look forward to celebrating the spirit of the game with everyone involved”.
With its wide fairways providing some leniency off the tee, the key will be navigating the appropriate angles into the firm, fast greens of the Bay Club. “Expect big greens, thick rough, and conditions that are both firm and fast…our Superintendent and his team are eagerly preparing to showcase the best of our course, ensuring a memorable experience for all,” said Egan.
The Kittansett Club (2025)
The Kittansett Club is a prestigious private golf club located on Butler Point in Marion, Mass., a picturesque town on the South Coast of the state. Established in 1922, the club is renowned for its beautiful and challenging golf course, which was designed by William Flynn and Frederick Hood. The course is known for its classic layout, which includes a mix of inland and seaside holes. It’s also known for its challenging shot making and ever-changing wind.
“It is an incredible honor to be selected as a co-host for this storied Championship, which dates back to 1921,” said The Kittansett Club Head Golf Professional, J.P. Connelly, PGA. “The NEPGA Section Championship is looked upon by PGA Professionals as the premier event of our year…From the first-class manner in which the event is conducted by the Section team, to the amazing support from its dedicated sponsors, this Championship is the gold standard for NEPGA events”.
The Kittansett Club, on most days, seems to be synonymous with wind. Being able to flight shots and leave the ball in favorable positions below the hole is a skill that is essential at Kittansett. The William Flynn design will be a great test for the best players in New England.
Portland Country Club (2026)
Portland Country Club, located in Falmouth, Maine is one of the region’s most esteemed and historic private golf. Founded as a private club in 1895, it is an 18-hole Donald Ross golf course design amidst a stunning seaside setting with sweeping views of Casco Bay and the Portland skyline.
“It is an honor for the Portland Country Club membership and our staff to host this Championship,” said Head Golf Professional, Dan Venezio, PGA. “The club hosted in 2010 and many Maine Amateur Championships throughout its history, and the membership really enjoys seeing their course played by the region’s best”.
In 2017, the club underwent a restoration with the guidance of Ron Pritchard and Tyler Rae. It brought to life the green and bunker complexes, and the tree management program has opened up many viewing corridors that allow the property to shine. Portland CC is not the longest course, but the Donald Ross greens challenge golfers on every hole. Missing in the wrong spot can turn what feels like a birdie opportunity into a struggle for par or bogey.
The Woodlands Club (2026)
Located in Falmouth, Maine, just minutes from downtown Portland, The Woodlands Club was established in 1988. The 18-hole golf course was designed by Jim and George Fazio and has hosted several state and regional Championships throughout its history. The course plays up to 6,856 yards from the Championship tees and a recent state-of-the-art irrigation system was installed to provide the finest course conditions in the state.
“As the host Professional alongside my dear friend Dan Venezio, I am immensely proud and honored to showcase The Woodlands Club and welcome our Section Professionals to our facility. Our entire team and Golf Committee are thrilled to have the Championship here in Maine, and hope to provide the players with a challenging test, worthy of a Section Championship,” said The Woodlands Club Director of Golf, Jan Murken, PGA.
Arguably one of the tougher challenges in Maine, competitors will have to navigate a tricky Jim and George Fazio design which should highlight and reward the most well rounded players. “Having hosted Professional Tour Events and Amateur Championships in the past, The Woodlands Club should provide a great Championship experience for the NEPGA,” said Murken.
The Quechee Club (2027)
The 2027 New England PGA Section Championship will head to Vermont where The Quechee Club will be the premiere host. Being a 36-hole facility, The Quechee Club will host all three rounds of the 107th Section Championship which will provide a new experience for all competitors.
The Quechee Club is located in the foothills of the Ottauquechee River Valley offering two Championship golf courses: the Highland Course and the Lakeland Course. The Highland Course is known for its challenging layout and stunning views of the Green Mountains while the Lakeland Course is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Ottauquechee River and surrounding lakes.
“It’s a tremendous honor for my staff and our club to host the Section Championship here in Vermont. Quechee has a rich history as the longtime venue for the New England Open, and we’re excited to bring Championship golf back to our community,” said Director of Golf, T.J. Anthoine, PGA.
“With our 36-hole facility, hosting all three rounds on-site will be fantastic for everyone involved! Each of our courses offers a unique set of challenges, and it will be exciting to see how the top Professionals from New England navigate them”.
The New England PGA Section Championship began in 1921 and has been hosted across all six Chapters, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont for over 100 years. The event acts as a qualifier for the PGA of America Professional National Championship. The NEPGA Section Professionals will compete for a qualifying spot as well as the Thomas Mahan Trophy. NEPGA Hall of Famer, Thomas Mahan, served the New England PGA as its President for a twenty-five year period and was a major driving force of the New England PGA throughout the 40’s and until his passing in 1964.
