The NHC/NEPGA first Pro am of the 2023 season was held at The Oaks GC in Somersworth on Monday, April 17. The weather wasn’t the usual sunny and cool as it has been then past few years. The temp hovered around 50 and the cloudy skies dropped some drizzle on the golfers throughout the day. Today’s team format is 1 BB Gross or 1 BB Net.

The Pro contest saw Rich Berberian Jr. shoot a 2 under 69 on this cool damp day. He made 9 pars on the front nine. On the back nine he had 4 birdies offset by 2 bogies to come in the 2 under score. Chris Houston of Laconia came in at 1 under 70 to take second place. He made 6 birdies in his round. Cory Mansfield of Derryfield, Todd Rollins of Laconia, Tom Smith of Atkinson, and Dan Wilkins of Laconia shot 2 over 73’s to tie for the 3rd spot. Sam Cody of Stonebridge came in with a 74 to end up 7th. Jon Ellis of The Oaks and Brett Smestad of Rochester came in with a pair of 75 to tie for 8th. Jay Pollini of Ridgewood and Mitch Jefferson of Rochester shot 76 to tie for the 10th spot.

The gross division saw the team Laconia led by Chris Houston. They shot an 8 under 63. Chris’s team was Patrick Hesseltine, Coby Goodwin, and Curtis Mailloux. The team from Candia Woods led by Craig McLaughlin with teammates Mark Scott, Jay Fowler, and Larry Nuttal shot 64 to come in 2nd.

The team from Rochester led by Mitch Jefferson with teammates Sean Johnson, Ryan Martel, and Tim Cassey shot a 12 under 59 to take the top spot in the net division. The team from Atkinson led by Dan Kish shot an 11 under par 60 to take 2nd place in the net division. His team consisted of Allison Wilkins, Stephen Oberto, and Matt LaFontaine.
