The rain stayed south for the NHC/NEPGA Pro am at Bald Peak Colony Club. If we listened to the weathermen we would have cancelled the other day. As we watched the rain come it was apparent that it was going to stay in southern NH and let us proceed with the pro am today. It was cloudy and cool, but the wet weather stayed away and everyone enjoyed playing this great facility.

The Pro contest saw Cory Mansfield of Derryfield CC shoot a 1 under par 71 to best the other pros and end up in 1st place. The second spot went to Bald Peak Assistant Pro Chris Houston and Dan Wilkins of Laconia. They both shot even par 72’s. Fourth place was a 4 way tie with Todd Rollins of Laconia, Danny Kish of Atkinson, Steve Hausmann of Amherst, and Brett Smestad of Rochester each shooting 1 over par 73’s. Jon Ellis of The Oaks, Rich Thibeault of Concord, and Steve Poremba of Derryfield all shot 74 to tie for 8th place.

The team contest today was a 1 BB Gross & 1 BB Net combined score. The team from Rochester shot an impressive 14 under par 130 to take the first place. Ther were led by Pro Brett Smestad and ams, Mike Mahan, Troy Joncas, and Dylan Tooch. Second place was captured by the team from Whip Poor Will and pro Jim Gunnare and ams, Tony Fournier, Michael Jonis and Mike Fournier. The shot a 13 under 131.  Third place went to the team from Atkinson with pro Dan Kish and ams, Marshall Halpin, Eric Byme, and Kevin Rogers. The came in with a 12 under 132 score.

With just two events left this season the Davis& Towle/Central Insurance NHC Player of the year is a tight race between leader Dan Kish (222.35) and his future father in law Dan Wilkins (217.70). Matt Arvanitis (188.67)is currently sitting in 3rd place, followed by Jay Pollini (173.49) and Steve Hausmann (151.35). Should be an interesting last two events.

Next Tuesday the pro am series travels to Abenaqui cc, then onto Laconia the following Monday.

Thank you to Paul Tessier and the entire staff at Bald Peak Colony Club for hosting todays event and making it enjoyable for all.
