A beautiful early fall day greeted the 28 teams that traveled to Montcalm CC for the NHC/NEPGA pro am. The greens were fast and the fairways plush. The wind showed up and the course was hard to beat. The format for today was 1 BB Gross or 1 BB Net, two separate contests.

The pro contest saw Nick Dejardins of Nashua shot an 1 under par 71 to take the top honors for todays event. He came within an inch of holing out on the par 4 12th hole with his drive.  Steve Hausmann of Amherst and Brennan Earls of Montcalm both came in with an even par 72’s to tie for 2nd place. Brad Heninger of Baker Hill and Chris Cherok of Golf Club of NE came in with a 1 over par 73 to tie for 4th place. Curtis Goldsberry of Quechee and Bill Andrews of Portsmouth shot 75’s to tie for the 6th spot. Chris Mowers of Nippo Lake, Dan Wilkins of Laconia, and Jim Gunnare of Whip Poor Will all shot 76 to tie for 8th place and rounded out the top 10.

The team gross competition the score of 10 under 62 took first place. That team was from Nashua CC led by Pro Nick Desjardins and ams Jon Dyer, Jeff Hill, and Mark Cormier. Second place was a 3 way tie, that score was 7 under 65’s.  Beaver Meadow with Pro Phil Davis, ams Jim Cilley, John Beaudion, and Glenn Schadlick, Rochester with Pro Brett Smestad, and only 2 ams, Mike Mahan and Troy Joncas, and Golf Club of NE with Pro Chris Cherok with ams Tyler Somers, Patrick Heffernan, and Liam Rogers.

The team net competition was a five way tie with the team of Pro Alex Kirk of Dartmouth and his team of Jeff Frechette, Terry Hall, & Chris Lincoln. The team from Whip Poor Will with Pro Jim Gunnare and ams, Michael Jonis, John Hiney, and Joe Bonacquisti. The team from Sunapee with Pro Aaron Kingsley, with ams Tom Lithgow, Mark McCann, and Mike Quinn. The teams from Beaver Meadow, Phil Davis,  and the team from Nashua, Nick Desjardins, also tied for that first place spot. All the teams came in at 12 under in the net contest.

Thank you to the staff at Montcalm for giving us that beautiful day and a well manicured golf course. We look forward to a return trip in 2022.

As the season winds down the next stop for the circuit is at Souhegan Woods next week for the Pro/Senior Championship.

Montcalm Head PGA Professional, Steve Rogers tees off.

Montcalm Assistant PGA Professional, Brennan Earls, hits his 2nd shot on the 4th hole.

One of the top views at a NH golf course is from the 1st green at Montcalm. Sad thing the leaves are starting to change.

Phil Davis watches his approach on the 18th hole.
