A brisk morning greeted the first few tee times at Souhegan Woods Golf Course for the NHC/NEPGA Pro Senior Championship. As the sun rose higher so did the temps. A beautiful sunny day made golfing for the 20 teams an enjoyable one. Because it is a Championship the team format was 2 BB Gross or 2 BB Net.

The pro contest saw Dan Kish of Atkinson came in with a 1 under 71 to top the field of PGA Professionals. Brett Smestad of Rochester CC and NIck Desjardins of Nashua both came in with even par 72’s to tie for the second spot. Dan Wilkins of Laconia came away with a 73 to place 4ths, followed by Bill Andrews of Portsmouth wit a 74. Eric Soderman shot a 76 to end up in sixth place. There were 6 players tied with the score of 77 to share 7th place.

The 1 BB Gross competition saw the team from come in with a 12 under par 132 to best the field by 7 strokes. That team was from Portsmouth CC with Professional Bill Andrews and ams Mike Facteau, Tony Fournier, and Chris Pollett. Head Professional Matt Thibeault of Intervale and his team of Bob Drew, Jeff Benson, and Carl Lang came in with a 5 under par 139 to come in second in the gross contest. Third place went to the team from Nashua led by Nick Desjardins.

In the 1 BB Net side the team led by Nippo Lake Professional Chris Mowers shot a 14 under par 130 to end up in 1st place. Chris was joined by his amateurs Ernie Iturralde, Andy Hurley, and James Roy. Steve Hausmann of Amherst and his team of James Rodregues, Pat Dion, and Russell Michard shot 11 under par to take the second spot. Jay Pollini led his team from Ridgewood to the third spot.

As the season winds down there are some great events 9am shotguncoming up. Next week we stop at Cochecho, the following week the circuit travels to Bald Peak Colony for a 9am shotgun.
