This is my first time traveling to Nippo Lake Golf Course. What a beautiful spot. Tucked away in Barrington, sorta on the way to the coast is this sloping course. It’s not long, it’s not flat, the greens are small, and there’s just enough room so you have to work to keep it in play. The wind was a factor today, so despite the short nature of the course, the course played tough today.  Seventeen teams came to play today. The team format is 1 BB Gross or 1 BB Net.

The pro contest saw Brett Smestad of Rochester and Dan Wilkins of Laconia both shot a 1 over par 71’s to tie for the top spot. Lucas Langelier of Cochecho and Mitch Jefferson of Rochester came in with 4 over par 74’s to tie for 3rd place. Jay Pollini of Ridgewood and Vince Molesky of Apple Hill shot a pair of 77’s to tie for 5th.

The 1 BB Gross division the team from Cochecho led by Lucas Langelier shot a 7 under 63 to take the top spot. His team was made up of Kurt Eddins, Mike MacVane, and Shawn Piper. The second spot went to the team from Rochester led by Mitch Jefferson with the team of Ryan Martel, Josh Parker, and Jim Cilley.

The 1 BB Net Division Brett Smestad and his team from Rochester came in a 10 under to take top honors. His teammates were Kevin Lynch, Jeff Robar, and Jeff Holland. Second place went to the team from Laconia with Pro Dan Wilkins and team Randy Pike, Allison Wilkins, and Allan Beetle.

We want to thank Chris Mowers, PGA Professional at Nippo Lake, and the entire staff there for a nice day. The course was in great shape and many players commented on it. They found it more of a challenge than the card says it should be. Next week the circuit travels to Concord CC.

Kim O’Neil gets some practice putts in before his round.

Aaron Kingsley hits onto the tough 8th green.

Todd Rollins tees off 1.

A look at the 17th green from the deck. What a great spot.
