ANDOVER, Mass. – The Oakley Country Club team of Scott Johnson, PGA and Pat Lange and the Braintree Municipal duo of Craig Coombes, PGA and Dylan Brown tied for the New England PGA Pro-Superintendent Invitational title on Thursday, both posting scores of 2-over par 74.
Johnson and Lange tallied four birdies in the select-drive, alternate shot format, including two on the back-9 which they played in even-par. The Oakley team claimed first place in the gross division, while Braintree, which matched Oakley at 2-over, finished net 7-under to win the net division. Coombes and Brown recorded 14 pars on the day a birdie and just three bogeys on the scorecard.
The Turner Hill team of Nathan Hopley, PGA and John Sadowski and the Pine Brook CC team of Zach Mahan, PGA and Brandon Walsh tied for third at 3-over par.
Sixty-four players representing 31 different facilities participated in Thursday’s tournament under perfect fall conditions, with sunshine and temperatures in the 70s.
Thank you to Indian Ridge and head golf professional Mike Miller, PGA for hosting the event. The NEPGA also thanks Five Star Golf Cars and representative Andy Ingham, PGA, for supporting the event. Ingham hung out on the Par-3 16th hole and provided the field with some extra entertainment.
