2020 NEPGA Foundation Grant Application

With the primary mission of intelligence, those stationed at Otis Air National Guard Base on Cape Cod are tasked with gathering, analyzing and interpreting information from a variety or sources. At the Cape Cod Junior Golf Outreach Program, their children also have the opportunity to gather, analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, but in a much different way.

Rather than gathering intelligence for the purpose of defending national interests, children and families of Otis Air Force Base Airmen used information from PGA Professionals Darren Falk (Holly Ridge), Dennis Hoye (Bass River), Mike Rothera (Pinehills), Dave Donnellan (Hyannis), Matt Baran (The Ridge Club), and Ben Egan (The Bay Club) to build and improve their golf skills at Anchor Strength and Fitness Inc., in Sandwich, Mass.

Nearly a dozen kids turned up for the first session of the program, which was funded by a grant from the New England PGA Foundation. Two more winter sessions are on the schedule for February and March. Kids used SNAG (Starting New At Golf) equipment to learn golf fundamentals in a welcoming and enjoyable setting.

The NEPGA Foundation awarded grants to five programs for youth, military veterans and diverse populations in 2019, funding programs in four of the Section’s six Chapters. The Foundation allocates money for programs in all six Chapters, and the 2020 NEPGA Foundation Grant Application is now available. The deadline for top priority is March, 31, 2020.
