Quincy, Mass. – High atop the storied quarries of Quincy, the New England PGA Section hosted the Granite Links Pro-Am today, with 104 competitors—led by 26 NEPGA Professionals—battling across a landscape defined by its dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views of the Boston skyline. It was a classic New England spring day on the links, characterized by mostly cloudy skies and a steady 11 mph breeze coming off the water from the northeast. With temperatures holding firm at 51°F (feeling more like 48°F in the wind), the field faced a brisk, tactical test that demanded precision through the heavy air and across the rolling, fescue-lined fairways of the Granite and Milton nines.
It was a masterclass in bogey-free golf for Peter Ruymann, PGA (Marshfield CC), who navigated the Granite Links terrain with clinical precision to post an unblemished 7-under-par 64. Ruymann wasted no time attacking the course, carding four birdies on a flawless front nine that included taking advantage of the par-5 1st and 3rd holes, followed by back-to-back birdies on 5 and 6. Maintaining his composure as the coastal breezes held steady, he remained mistake-free through the turn before delivering a knockout punch to the field at the finish. Ruymann closed his day in spectacular fashion, carding three consecutive birdies on 16, 17, and 18 to secure a clean scorecard and the professional division title. His 7-under-par performance was in a league of its own, earning him the victory by a commanding seven-stroke margin.
Kyle Puzzo, PGA (Weston Golf Club) secured solo second place in the professional division with a steady even-par 71. Puzzo started strong, carding birdies on the par-5 1st and the par-3 6th to make the turn at 2-under. Despite a challenging stretch on the back nine that included a double bogey on the 10th and a dropped shot on the 16th, he showed great resilience, finishing his day with a clutch birdie on the par-5 18th to leapfrog the pack and claim the runner-up spot.
In the team competition, Danny Kish, PGA and his squad from The Indoor Golf Club proved that their game translates perfectly from the simulators to the breezy heights of Quincy. Competing in the 2 Best Balls of 4 (1 Gross + 1 Net) division, Kish and amateurs Eric Byrne, Cam Peredna, and Ryan Boyle operated in total sync to post a powerhouse score of 15-under-par 127. The quartet balanced aggressive shot-making with strategic net scoring, maintaining a clean card to outpace the field and claim the top spot on the podium.
The tournament experience was further elevated by the support of our partners and the exceptional hospitality of the host site. Antigua Apparel provided stylish quarter zips to all players as a tee gift, which proved essential in the brisk spring air, while La Pulga Spirits hosted tequila tastings and cocktails on the 11th tee—the second hole of the Milton course—to keep spirits high throughout the round. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the entire Granite Links Golf Club staff for hosting such a memorable event and to our partners, Antigua and La Pulga, for their continued support. The NEPGA will next head to the Thorny Lea Pro-Am on May 4th at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, Mass. For more information, click here.
