North Dartmouth, Mass – The New England PGA Section kicked off the 2024 season with a Pro-Am at the Country Club of New Bedford on Monday, April 15th. The field of 29 teams enjoyed a beautiful early spring day as the sun stayed out providing optimal temperatures for a day of golf in North Dartmouth, Mass.
Tom Tobey, PGA (Sandwich Hollows GC) and Danny Kish, PGA (The Indoor GC) tied for first place in the Individual Professional division shooting even par-70s. Scott Hickey, PGA (Cyprian Keyes GC) and Zach Mahan, PGA (Woods Hole GC) earned a share of third place, shooting 3-over par on the day.
Tobey finished the front nine just 1-over with one birdie on his scorecard. Birdies on the par-4 10th hole and the par-3 17th hole helped him clinch the share of first place.
Kish made the turn at even-par with two birdies and two bogeys. His scorecard looked similar on the back nine, with a pair of bogeys and birdies. His birdie on the par-3 15th hole lifted him to the top of the leaderboard alongside Tobey.
In team play, Tobey led his team to a first place finish in the 2 best ball of 4, 1 Gross + 1 Net score, with a total score of 129 (-11). Tobey’s team consisted of Chris George, Ben Tobey, and Zach Hunter.
Finishing two strokes behind them was the team from Wanumetonomy Golf & CC, led by William Maguire, PGA. He played with Peter Alofsin, Mike Calef, and Matt Murphy. As a team they posted a score of 131 (-9) for second place overall.
