PLYMOUTH, Mass – As the end of the golf season and cold weather approach, Cape Cod Chapter competition is still going strong. Thursday’s Plymouth Country Club Pro-Am was no exception, as 18 teams made their way to the 1910 Donald Ross layout for a day of Pro-Am play.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Tony Bacigalupo and Team Eastward Ho! made their trip across the bridge worthwhile, signing for nine birdies and an eagle en route to an impressive team score of 8-under 130. Bacigalupo and his crew held the clubhouse lead for nearly two hours, until Brad Sherman’s 15th Golf Club squad turned in a matching score of 8-under thanks to a blistering back nine of 7-under 63.

With only two groups outstanding on the golf course, it was looking like a share of the victory for 15th Golf Club and Eastward Ho! James Cook’s Cape Club had different plans, as their team got off to a dream start and never looked back, carding nine birdies and two eagles in the 2BB of 4 format. Despite cooling off at the halfway point of the round, they closed strong to reach double figures under par, taking the top spot on the team leaderboard with their 10-under 128.

Sherman’s individual performance translated to his team’s podium finish, as he signed for six birdies on his own ball, more than enough to offset his mistakes and grab the individual professional title. His mark of 1-over 70 outlasted the efforts of Zack Sweet (Cape Cod National) and Matt Baran (The Ridge Club) who shot 72 and 71, respectively.

Professional’s amateur counterparts also got their chance to shine, as the concurrent low amateur competition added a new dimension to the leaderboard. Peter Hartmann, representing 15th Golf Club, made nine straight pars on his inward half to rack up 31 stableford points and secure a share of second place. Kyle Potter (LeBaron Hills CC) took a different route on his way to the same mark, knocking in a timely birdie on the 17th to match Hartmann’s total. Despite their valiant efforts, it was Mike Walker of Cape Cod National that bested the field, tallying 32 points to take the win in dramatic fashion.

Thank you to Mike Roy, PGA and the entire Plymouth Country Club community for being gracious hosts of the Cape Cod Chapter!
