Mattapoisett, Mass. – The New England PGA Section hosted the 2024 NEPGA Acushnet Golf Pro-Assistant Championship on a picture-perfect day at the Bay Club Mattapoisett on Monday, June 3, 2024. 191 players, including a total of 117 teams, came out to compete in the 1BB of 2 Gross event.

The duo of Wollaston Golf Club’s Jeff Martin, PGA and Liam Friedman, PGA tallied 8 birdies and maintained an even par on the remaining 10 holes. They showcased a noteworthy 4 birdies on the front nine, reaching the turn at 4-under. Additional birdies on the par-5 11th and 15th holes, along with the par-4 18th hole, led to their ultimate 8-under 63, securing the win.

Other notable scores include the team of Sean Barrett, PGA and JJ Harris, PGA from Falmouth Country Club (Maine) with a 6-under 65 for second place overall.

Four teams tied for third place, including: Tim Leigh, PGA and Nick Petracca from Fall River CC, Barrett, PGA and Chan Longfellow from Falmouth CC, and Martin, who partnered with both Patrick Hohman, PGA and Michael Kapolis, PGA, resulting in a tie for third place for both pairs from Wollaston GC.

The day was further highlighted by two hole-in-ones on the 9th hole, with Barrett being the first, followed by Pat McDonald (Vineyard GC).
