MARLBOROUGH, MASS. – The 2023 NEPGA Stroke Play Series #3 event ended in a three-way tie on Monday, July 17th at Marlborough Country Club. David Jankowski, PGA (Golf Garage VT), Ed Kirby, PGA (The Aquidneck Club), and Robert Bruso, PGA (Blackstone National GC) all shot impressive 4-under 67s to claim a share of first place. A total of 88 players came out to compete on a hot summer day in the third Stroke Play Series event of the year in Marlborough, Mass.

Jankowski started the day with two birdies on the par-4 2nd and 3rd holes of the day. He moved to 1-under with a bogey on the par-3 7th hole before carding birdies on 8 and 9 to make the turn at 3-under. A birdie on the par-5  13th hole sealed the deal to give Jankowski the final 4-under, 67.

After two birdies and two bogeys on the front, Kirby made the turn at an even-par, 35. He posted an impressive four birdies on the back to climb to the top of the leaderboard for a share of first place. Kirby birdied the par-4 10th hole, par-5 11th and 13th holes, and came in clutch with a final birdie on the par-3 18th hole.

Bruso carded three birdies and two bogeys through the opening nine holes of the day, making the turn at 1-under, 34. He also had an outstanding back-nine, carding birdies on the par-3 12th hole, par-5 13th hole, and securing the share of first place with a final birdie on the 18th.

Liam Friedman, PGA (Wollaston GC) and Matt Ferrelli (Boothbay Harbor CC) tied for fourth place overall, shooting 3-under, 68s.

Friedman made the turn at 2-under and moved to 4-under with birdies on 14 and 16. A bogey on the final hole dropped him to 3-under overall for the share of fourth place.

Ferrelli carded three birdies on the front and made the turn at 1-under. He went on to birdie holes 12, 13, and 14 to move to 4-under with 4 holes to play. A bogey on the final hole of the day put him in a tie with Friedman at 3-under, 68.
