FALL RIVER, Mass.—Bob Tramonti (Triggs Memorial GC) defeated Chris Hulme (Newport National GC) in a one-hole playoff to capture the 2023 Rhode Island Chapter Championship at Fall River CC on Wednesday.

COMPLETE RESULTS

This was the second time in the last week that the Rhode Island Chapter visited Fall River after the first attempt of the tournament was rained out midway through the round. Even with only a week’s notice the Chapter fielded a strong field with 17 PGA Professionals in attendance.

Tramonti and Hulme finished the round in a tie for first place posting scores of 1-under par 71 on the par 70 track, but each did so in very different ways. Hulme carded 2 birdies, 2 bogeys and 16 pars; while Tramonti was more up and down recording 5 birdies, 15 pars, and 6 bogeys.

In the playoff, both Tramonti and Hulme missed the green of the 1st hole in regulation. Tramonti was able to make a nice up and down to secure par, while Hulme missed his par putt.

Rounding out the top five were Jason Calhoun (Brown University), Brendon Ray (Point Judith), and Ed Kirby (Aquidneck Club). The posted scores of 72, 73, and 74 respectively.
