BRANDON, VT — The Vermont Chapter of the New England PGA headed to Neshobe Golf Club on June 22nd for the Neshobe Pro-Pro. The tournament featured seven teams of PGA Professionals competing in a Four-Ball format, which ultimately ended in a two-way tie at the top of the leaderboard.
The tandem of Jason Sherman (The Kwini Club) and Levi Ritter (Rocky Ridge Golf Club) matched the play of Josh Upson (Country Club of Vermont) and Michael Harger (The Club at Spruce Peak), with both duos firing rounds of 4-under par 68.
Both winning teams took different paths to their matching totals but caught fire on the back nine to secure their share of the victory. Sherman and Ritter ground out a steady, even-par 36 on the front nine before hitting their stride on Neshobe’s back half to card a spectacular 4-under par 32. Their inward half was fueled by birdies on the 10th and 11th holes, followed by clutch circles on the scorecard at the par-4 16th and the par-3 17th.
Upson and Harger built momentum early with birdies on the 1st and 8th holes during their opening nine. They carried that strong play onto the back nine to match the leaders with a 32 of their own, picking up key shots with a birdie on the par-5 11th before adding back-to-back birdies on the par-4 13th and par-5 14th holes to close out the day at 4-under par.
Finishing just one stroke off the pace in solo third was the pair of Roger King (Sugarbush Golf Club) and Kellen Peery (Golf Garage VT), who turned in a strong 3-under par 69.
The rest of the leaderboard remained tightly packed, with two teams sharing the fourth spot at 1-under par 71. That group included the Dorset Field Club tandem of Susan Fasoldt and Patrick Berry, alongside Dustin Ribolini and Jon Benson of The Quechee Club.
The Vermont Chapter extends its sincere gratitude to Neshobe’s PGA Professionals Jon and Mandy Milne for graciously hosting the field and providing a fantastic venue for Chapter professionals.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Brendan Dugan and True Linkswear for their partnership of the Neshobe Pro-Pro! Next on the schedule for the Vermont Chapter is its annual Pro-Lady Championship on June 29th at The Club at Spruce Peak.
