HYANNISPORT, Mass- The Cape Cod Chapter held its annual Pro-Pro at the Hyannisport Club this Wednesday, with 28 teams of New England PGA Professionals playing for the title. Two teams separated themselves from the pack; the duos of Ed Kirby (The Aquidneck Club) & Frank Leja and Gregg Richbourg & Zack Sweet (Cape Cod National GC) each shot 6-under 65 to share the victory.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Kirby and Leja started fast with a strong front nine and were powered by three consecutive birdies on holes four through six to go out in 3-under par. On the back nine the pair made birdies on 10, 13, and 18 and did not record a single bogey on their way to returning a clean car and posting a 6-under 65 round.

Richbourg and Sweet had a more adventurous path to a share of the title. Their front nine consisted of six birdies, two bogeys, and only a single par to begin their round at 4-under 32. Their back nine however was a little more traditional, with two birdies and seven pars to finish at 6-under 65. Their eight birdies on the day led the field.

In second place by one shot was the team of Rob Bradley (Brockton CC) and Tom Rooney (LeBaron Hills CC) who posted a great round of 5-under 66. The Bay Club Team represented by John Paesani & Greg Yeomans finished in fourth place at 4-under par, followed by Ben Egan (The Bay Club) & Jake Leech (Walpole CC) who rounded out the top five at 3-under par.

Following play, the field convened at Baxter’s Boathouse for lunch and enjoyed some great food and laughs at the scenic restaurant.
