WALPOLE, MASS. – Dan Venezio, PGA of Portland Country Club posted the top score in the 2023 New England PGA Stroke Play Series #2 at Walpole Country Club on Monday, May 15th. It was a beautiful spring day in New England as the group of 93 Professionals competed over 18 holes and Venezio put up a score of three-under, 68 to take home the victory.

Ed Kirby, PGA (The Aquidneck Club) claimed solo second place, shooting a 2-under, 69 on the day. Kirby edged Robert Tramonti, PGA (Triggs Memorial GC) by one stroke as he took home solo third place, shooting one-under, 70.

After shooting par on the opening three holes, Venezio carded his first birdie of the day on the par-5 4th hole. He added another birdie on the 9th to make the turn at one-under. Two more birdies, on the par-5 12th and 15th holes gave Venezio the final three-under victory.

Kirby carded two early birdies on holes 2 and 4 and made the turn at 1-under. A bogey on the 10th hole evened his score, but two more late birdies on 16 and 18 gave him the final 2-under, 69, and second place overall.

Tramonti started the day with a birdie on the par-4 2nd hole. He moved to 2-under with a birdie on the par-5 4th hole. Bogeys on 7 and 8 put him at an even par at the turn. Tramonti traded a birdie and a bogey on the 11th and 12th holes, but his fourth and final birdie on the day came just in time, on the long par-4 18th hole, to give him the final one-under and third place overall.

Five players tied for fourth place, shooting an even Par-71: Rich Berberian, Jr., PGA (Vesper CC), Kirk Hanefeld, PGA (Salem CC), Shawn Warren, PGA (Falmouth CC), Ben Egan, PGA (Bay Club Mattapoisett), and Arthur Wilson, PGA (Golf Galaxy – Warwick).
