The 105th NEPGA Section Championship took place at The Kittansett Club and The Bay Club at Mattapoisett, bringing together the section’s best professionals to compete for one of New England’s most prestigious professional titles. Congratulations to Ed Kirby (The Aquidneck Club) who went on to capture the championship with a three-round total of 216 (+3). The Vermont Chapter was well-represented with 13 professionals teeing it up in this year’s event.
Leading the way for the Vermont Chapter was the chapter champion, David Jankowski (Golf Garage VT), who put together rounds of 70, 72, and 76 to finish at +5 and a tie for fourth place overall. With 9 holes to play David held onto a lead, but a disappointing back nine dripped him into a tie for fourth. His strong play secured a qualifying spot in the 2026 PGA Professional Championship at Bandon Dunes.
Also finishing inside the top 25 was Curt Goldsberry (The Quechee Club), whose steady play earned him a tie for 24th at +10. Ryan Howard (Mt. Anthony CC) followed closely behind with a T-27 finish at +11, while Kellen Peery (Golf Garage VT) posted +15 to tie for 42nd.
In addition to those making the cut, several Vermont Chapter professionals made the trip to The Bay Club to compete on the Section stage. Kevin Bennison (Burlington CC), James LeClair (Golf Garage VT), Patrick Berry (Dorset Field Club), Todd Trono (Williston GC), Susan Fasoldt (Dorset Field Club), Sam Sicard (Ekwanok CC), Michael Zaranek (Brattleboro CC), Ryan Kesten (Vermont National CC), and Tom Mackey (Ekwanok CC) all represented Vermont proudly, battling at both The Bay Club and The Kittansett Club.
Despite the cut line leaving a number of Vermonters on the outside looking in for the final day, the Chapter presence was strong throughout the championship. Well done to all the professionals and to those who traveled from the Green Mountain State to showcase the depth of talent in the chapter.
