Greenland, N.H. – The New England PGA hosted the 2025 Portsmouth Pro-Am on Monday, May 19th at Portsmouth Country Club. 40 New England PGA Professionals competed in the event, bringing teams of amateurs for a total of 160 players in the field. The day brought some strong winds resulting in chilling temperatures for the two waves of teams.
Shawn Warren, PGA (Bates College) and Matt Lombard, PGA (North Andover CC) tied for first place in the Professional Division, shooting 2-over, 74s on the day. Warren also led his team to victory in the 2BB of 4 (Gross+Net) Division, shooting 3-under as a group.
Jay Pollini, PGA (The Oaks Golf Links) and Jason Malcolm, PGA (Sky Meadow CC) tied for third place, shooting 4-over 76s in challenging conditions over all 18 holes.
Warren kicked off the round on the par-4 10th hole with a bogey. He went on to card two birdies, one on the par-5 14th hole and one on the par-4 18th hole, and a bogey on 16, put him at an even-par 36 making the turn. He finished the day with four birdies, adding two more on the first hole and the par-5 4th hole. A few more bogeys through his back nine landed him at 2-over, 74 overall, claiming the top spot on the leaderboard.
Lombard posted a clean scorecard through his opening nine holes. Two bogeys on the back, on holes 10 and 15, both par-4s, gave him the final 2-over, 74, and earned himself a spot at the top of the leaderboard.
Pollini carded two birdies on the day, both coming on his back nine, the par-4 1st hole and par-5 7th hole. He started the day on the 10th hole and made the turn at 5-over. Two birdies and one bogey on the back gave him the final 4-over score for the share of third place on the leaderboard.
Malcom also started the day on the 10th hole in the first wave of tee times. He also recorded two birdies on the day. His first came on the par-4 17th hole, helping him make the turn at 3-over. One final birdie on the par-4 6th holes, and closing the round with pars on holes 7 through 9 gave him the final 4-over score in the tie for third place overall in the Individual Professional Division.
Warren’s team, including amateurs, Mike Grindatti, Leo Paquette, and Chris Telgener earned first place in the 2 BB of 4, 1 Gross +1 Net division by 3 strokes. Thomson CC led by PGA Professional, Chris Young, finished in second place overall in the team division, shooting a combined even-par, 144. Lombard led his team to third place, finishing the day at 1-over.
