CASCO, ME- The Maine Chapter made its first visit to Point Sebago Golf Club in quite some time on Monday, bringing together 18 PGA Professionals and their teams for a great day of golf. The golf course was in fantastic shape and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Special thanks go to Director of Golf Matt Lowell, PGA and Point Sebago Superintendent Patrick Doran for hosting the event.
Shawn Warren of Old Marsh led the professional field with a 2-under-par 70, highlighted by five birdies. He was the only player in red numbers, playing consistent golf with matching nines of 35.
Eric Higgins (Webhannet) and John Hickson (Northport) tied for second at even-par 72. Hickson opened strong with a 34 on the front nine, while Higgins posted an even 36 on both sides. Paul Champagne (Nonesuch River) and Ben Goodall (Fairlawn) finished one shot back at 73 to share fourth.
In the team competition, using two best balls of four (gross plus net), Warren’s group—Pat Copp, Shawn McCurdy, and Leo Paquette—delivered a standout performance with a 126 total, finishing 18 under par. Their round included nine team birdies and three team eagles or better. The highlight of their round came at the drivable par-4 15th, where Pat Copp made a gross 2, net 1, contributing to a team score of 4 on the hole.
Champagne’s team from Nonesuch River claimed second at 8-under 136, followed by Matthew Lowell’s Point Sebago team at 7-under 137. Two teams tied for fourth at 138, including those led by Aaron Rivard (Fox Ridge GC) and John Hickson (Northport GC).
Next on the schedule for the Maine Chapter is the Pro-Lady Championship on June 10th at the Purpoodock Club!
