YORK, Maine – The New England PGA Section hosted the 2024 Head Pro/Teaching Pro Championship at York Golf & Tennis Club on Monday, August 5th. Shawn Warren, PGA (Old Marsh CC) shot a 5-under, 65 to capture the NEPGA Head Professional Championship title by a 3-stroke margin. In the Teaching Professional Championship, Joe Rocha, PGA (Golf Country) shot a 1-under, 69 to take home the trophy.

After parring the first seven holes of the day, Warren made a birdie on the par-5 8th hole, making the turn at 1-under. He went on to birdie four holes on the back nine, including back-to-back par-4s on 11 and 12, and the par-5 13th hole. He closed out the round with a birdie on the par-4 18th hole to clinch the victory.

Matt Baran, PGA (The Ridge Club) and Robert Tramonti, PGA (Triggs Memorial GC) claimed a share of second place, shooting 2-under, 68. Baran’s scorecard was highlighted by an albatross on the par-5 8th hole. He added three more birdies on his scorecard and finished at 2-under overall. Tramonti made the turn at 1-over, but three birdies on the back nine lifted him to the 2-under, 68 finish in a tie for the second place spot. He birdied the par-3 14th and 17th holes as well as the par-4 15th hole.

Rocha had a stellar round, carding four birdies on his way to the Teaching Pro Championship title. He carded birdies on holes 2, 5, and 8 and made the turn at 2-under. A couple of bogeys and one birdie on the back gave him the 1-under final to take the top spot on the leaderboard.
