The New England PGA is proud to announce that Tim Watroba, PGA Head Golf Professional at Hyannisport Club, has been named the Cape Cod Chapter Professional of the Year. This prestigious honor, also known as the Gary Philbrick Professional of the Year Award, recognizes a PGA Professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, integrity, service, and commitment to the game of golf.
A PGA Member since 2006, Watroba has built a career defined by professionalism, enthusiasm, and a deep respect for the traditions of the game. From his early days as an Assistant Professional in both Vero Beach, FL, and Cape Cod, to his leadership role at Hyannisport Club, Tim has exemplified what it means to be a modern golf professional—balancing tradition with innovation, and business acumen with a passion for growing the game.
“Tim has proven to be a successful business owner, club ambassador, and leader,” said the Cape Cod Chapter Awards Committee. “His ability to preserve club traditions while keeping an eye on the future of golf makes him an outstanding representative of our profession.”
At Hyannisport Club, Watroba leads a proactive and engaging golf operation known for its creative, sold-out events and member-focused programming. He has expanded opportunities for players of all levels through initiatives such as PGA Junior League participation, interclub matches, and popular member trips to iconic New England destinations like Farm Neck and Miacomet Golf Clubs.
Beyond the club, Tim continues to serve the NEPGA community through active participation in Chapter and Section events, including the Spring and Fall Meetings and regional tournaments. He also remains committed to giving back, hosting Chapter and Section events and creating tournaments like the Sand & Gravel, an annual competition at Cotuit Highgrounds that fosters camaraderie among golf professionals and local players alike.
A devoted husband and father of three, Watroba credits family life for teaching him patience, consistency, and perspective—qualities that have shaped his leadership both on and off the course.
In 2006, Watroba was also recognized nationally as the recipient of the Acushnet National PGA Apprentice Scholarship Award.
