Quechee, VT – A beautiful day helped kick off the 2023 season with a field of twenty two teams at The Quechee Club. The field was strong on both the pro and the amateur side of the event. Manchester Country Club’s Pete Weatherby put on a strong display of golf winning by six shots. Weatherby’s 3 – under par 69, consisted of birdies on holes 2, 6, 9, 11, and 14 with only two bogeys in between. Holding off David Bennett of CC of Vermont and Mike Zaranek of Brattleboro Country Club who tied for second with a score of 75. Rounding out the top six are host professionals Curt Goldsberry and Dustin Ribolini of The Quechee Club with rounds of 76 tied for Fourth place and Jim Fairbanks of Riverside Municipal Golf Course with a round of 78 finishing in Sixth place.
In the team event, David Jankowski and The Golf Garage team of Chaney Noyes, Dave Farrell Tim Davidson went low with a score of 132, 12 -under par to beat out Jim Leclair and The Quechee Club team of Andy Hunnewell, Jim Punger, Patrick Pelletier who posted 134, 10 -under par. Another Quechee Club team came in Third with a score of 136, 8- under par, led by Curt Goldsberry, Todd Holmes, Steve Carlan, and Jay Mullen. In Fourth place Brattleboro Country Club with a team score of 138 6 -under par followed by a three way tie for Fifth place with Manchester Country Club, Haystack Golf Club, and Cedar Knoll Country Club with a team score of 139 5 – under par.
On the amateur side of things, Patrick Pelletier had the second lowest score of the day 2 -under 70 and the Big East Player of the Year Jared Nelson had an interesting battle with the course to shoot an even par round with 6 birdies. Congratulations to Haystack Golf Club’s Tom Juknis who made a Hole in One on the 17th hole, the fourth of his career.
