Dan Wilkins of Laconia CC made five birdies on his way to a 3 under par 69, capturing the Low Professional honors at the New Hampshire PGA Pro Am at the beautiful Omni Mount Washington Golf Course in Bretton Woods this week. With the victory, Wilkins takes over the top spot in the Davis and Towle Insurance Player of the Year Points race. Bob McGraw of the Eagle Mountain House Golf Club who also helps out at Mt. Washington with their PGA Junior League Program, was alone in second at even par 72. Jay Pollini (The Oaks), Jason Malcolm (Sky Meadow) and Sam Read (Den Brae) all tied for third at 73.

For the second straight year, the threat of thunderstorms throughout the day seemed to bounce off the mountains and stay away from the course with only a few brief rain showers, but no stoppage in play.

Rookie Matt Renfors of Beaver Meadow and his team of James Shattuck, Andrew Surprenant and Alex Murchie combined for a red hot 13 under par 59 to win the Team Best Ball Gross competition by a comfortable margin. Jason Malcolm’s Sky Meadow squad was second at 63 while Ian Willikens’ Scottish Highlands team and Billy Andrews’ Portsmouth CC group tied for third at 64.

Two teams tied for the top spot on the Team Net side at 14 under par 58. Those included Jay Pollini of The Oaks with amateurs Tim Melanson, Ben Ekstrom and Josh Johnson, and Eric Soderman of Hoodkroft with his team of Brian Nadeau, Jim Tokanel and Ryan Curtin. Walter Reeves captained his Canterbury Woods members to a third place finish at 59.
