MANCHESTER, Vt. – Toby Young along with his teammates from the Williston Golf Club fired a 13-under 131 to capture the team title on Monday in the Manchester Pro-Am.
Young, who was joined by his partners Kyle Rexford, Jim Pettine, and Jonathan Grzych, began their round strong playing their first five holes at five under par. Following that hot streak, the team traded one birdie with one bogey to go out with a 5-under 67.
On the back nine they once again found a hot streak recording a birdie and two eagles on holes 10 through 13. Birdies on holes 15 and 17 completed their round at 13-under 131 which left them with a 5-shot lead over the second-place teams.
Finishing in a tie for second place were the teams from Ekwanok Country Club and Burlington Country Club, led by Alex Watson and David Jankowski. Both teams played great rounds finishing at 8-under 136.
David Jankowski continued his strong play this season, shooting a 1-under 71 to win the Individual Professional competition. Jankowski made the turn at 2-under par with birdies on the 4th and 7th holes. After making double on 14, he made a clutch birdie on the 17th hole to secure the victory.
In a three-way tie for second place was Manchester Country Club’s Peter Weatherby, Alex Watson (Ekwanok CC), and David Bennett (CC of VT) who all recorded rounds of 73. Watson carded 5 birdies on his round to lead the field.
