BURLINGTON, Vt. – The players from Williston Golf Club brought their A-game to the Vermont Chapter’s Burlington Pro-Am on Monday. Teams led by Williston’s PGA Professionals Reece Delaire and Toby Young battled it out for the top spot in the 2 BB of 4 competition. Young’s team ultimately took home the title, winning by two shots with a score of -12 under 130.
Delaire’s Williston squad got off to a hot start on their front nine, making five birdies and an eagle to go out in 6-under 66. On the back Delaire and company ran into a bit of trouble making back-to-back bogeys on the 10th and 11th hole, and finally a double bogey on the 15th. However, they responded with a fantastic birdie, birdie, eagle finish on their final three holes to post a score of 10-under.
Young’s team posted a front nine score of 4-under 68 on the backs of three birdies and an eagle to go along with two bogeys. After a par on the 10th hole, the team went on a torrid stretch playing holes 11 through 14 in 6-under par to get them to 10-under par. After consecutive pars the team broke through with an eagle on the par-5 18th to get to 12-under and secure the victory.
David Jankowski of Golf Garage VT took home low professional honors for the second consecutive tournament with a score of even par 71. Jankowski played close to mistake free golf recording 14 pars, 2 birdies, and 2 bogeys on his round. Trailing Jankowski by only a single shot was David Bennett (CC of Vermont) and Tom Mackey (Ekwanok CC) who each shot rounds of 1-over 72. In a tie for 4th with rounds of 3-over 74 was John Paul (Kwiniaska GC), Pete Scrimgeour (Vermont National CC), and Toby Young (Williston GC).
